SHS team sets new record at inclusive running event

IMGP0001

On Tuesday 24 September, students Ethan S, Alfie, Joshua and Ethan D from class 10 in Key Stage 3 represented Sutherland House School in an inclusive running event at Harvey Haddon Stadium.

Arriving at the Harvey Haddon Stadium at Bilborough in Nottingham for 10:20am, students proceeded to warm up for the event and became familiar with the athletic running track.

The running track was very busy with over 50 students representing over ten schools.

Some of the students ran with a familiar member of staff whilst Ethan Souden ran independently. Each student ran around the 400-metre track and passed the baton onto a classmate.

Ethan Souden took the first lap, followed by Joshua Jones and Ethan Dejewski-Fletcher took the third lap. Alfie Evans also ran a lap when one of the students went for a break.

A brilliant effort was displayed by all the students, we hope that they are very proud of their efforts.

The school team ran an incredible 13 laps over 40 minutes in total, a new record for the school, for the next academic year to attempt to beat!

Richard Gennard, Active Living Teacher, said:

It was a great success, and this is the sixth occasion we've entered a team into an inclusive running event. We're already looking forward to next year’s event!

Well done to all those involved, all the staff are so proud of your efforts.
