Students win football match against Carlton and Digby

Sutherland House School were invited to participate in a Key Stage 3 football match organised by Carlton and Digby School on 24th July in Gedling, Nottinghamshire.

The team from Sutherland House School wore red football shirts, red shorts and socks, shin pads and relevant footwear, while Carlton and Digby wore a yellow and blue striped kit.

Before the game, the students enjoyed two warm-up activities including a tag game involving a large inflatable ball (pictured below) and a meet-and-greet passing activity.

Representing Sutherland House School were Joseph Trude, Jake Bates-Higgins, Mylo Peake, Riley Revill and Jacob.

The final score was Sutherland House School 5 to Carlton and Digby 1.

Riley Revill scored a hat-trick and Jake scored a wonder goal towards the end of the game. However, an absolute brilliant effort was displayed by all students with Joseph and Jacob giving an excellent performance at defending and Mylo working incredibly hard in the midfield position.

Mr Gennard, Active Living Teacher said:

"This was the first time most of the students had played a competitive football match and they all enjoyed it. The students represented the school in a very positive manner and played the game fairly and to the rules. They were very caring to the needs of the other team and displayed some incredible sportsmanship and positive values."

We'll be launching a full inclusive sporting calendar in the next school year which will feature more competitive sports, and we look forward to sharing more in the future.
